Understanding the Concept of Divine Communication
Talking to God is a foreign concept to most men. I know I personally don’t really care to talk to people in general, let alone the creator of the universe. And even if I could talk to him, what would we discuss? Why would he even want to talk to me? But the Bible calls us as men directly to use prayer to communicate with God.

Biblical Insights on Communication with God
What does the Bible say about talking to God?
The answer lies in how God urges us to reach out to Him.
Does God really listen?
“The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18)
1 Peter 3:7 suggests the importance of proper conduct: “Husbands, in the same way, be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.”
Does God really answer us?
“Even before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.”
Isaiah 65:24
Personal Experiences with Divine Conversations
What are my practical experiences with talking to God?
Praying for a “thing” is missing the point. Praying is hardest when life is easy because believing that “you got it” and you don’t need anything else is easy. Humbling experiences that force you to see that there is no other way are when prayer becomes the obvious and easy solution.
Inspirational Excerpt on Prayer
I want to share an excerpt that I once shared during a moment of helplessness that changed my life. This is a quote from Oswald Chambers in his book “If You Will Ask”:
“Only when a man flounders beyond his grip and cannot understand things that he really prays… Prayer interrupts personal ambition, and no busy man has time to pray. What will suffer is the life of God in him, which is nourished not by food but by prayer… We generally look upon prayer as a means of getting things for ourselves, whereas the Bible’s idea of prayer is that God’s holiness, purpose, and wise order may be brought about…”
Prayer isn’t necessarily to “get what you want” but instead is a way to grow closer to God.
